Winter Wonderland

”WINTER WONDERLAND” by Kim VanDerHoek.

5 X 7 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
S O L D

During the Thanksgiving weekend I decorated the house for the holidays, which really got me in the mood to paint something appropriate. Since I live in California, I don’t get many chances to paint snow scenes. Even though this was painted in my studio, I am pleased with how it turned out.

Do you like it? Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear your comments!

Fall In Peter's Canyon

”FALL IN PETER’S CANYON” by Kim VanDerHoek.

9 X 12 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
$85 (Shipping $11 within the U.S., $20 for Canada or $28 for everywhere else)

During all of the fires in California one of them was just blocks away from beautiful Peter’s Canyon. Luckily, the winds stopped and a slight rain came and helped the firefighters get the wildfire under control. Peter’s Canyon and the residents nearby are safe.

Queue of Trees

”QUEUE OF TREES” by Kim VanDerHoek.

5 X 7 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
S O L D

In England a line of people is called a Queue. These trees seemed to be lined up waiting for something. I enjoyed painting the shape of each one; they all had their own personality.

Golden Light

”GOLDEN LIGHT” by Kim VanDerHoek.

8 X 10 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
S O L D

Fine art print of this painting is available in my Etsy shop $13 (Shipping $3, Canada $4, Everywhere Else $6)

A very fitting painting for the holiday season, don’t you think? What I find interesting about this painting is the light. Half of the painting is in shadow and half is in the light. With the church in the picture the lighting seems to take on an even deeper meaning.

This beautiful view can be seen along a hiking trail in the Big Bear Mountains. That grassy meadow is a perfect spot to stop for lunch on the way up the mountain.

A Second Place Award!

"Natural Arch" by Kim VanDerHoek
8X10 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.

A photographic quality print of this painting is available for sale in my Etsy shop for $13.

This painting received a second place ribbon in the oil painting category during the Orange Art Associations competition! The judge for the evening was the very talented William Wray. His urban landscapes are incredibly evocative and hauntingly beautiful.

Painted near Hart Park in Orange, the archway created by the trees made for an interesting composition. Near the end of this painting the clouds moved in and to add that last bit of drama.

Symphony of Color

”QUARTET” by Kim VanDerHoek.

9 X 12 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
$85 (Shipping $20 within the U.S., $28 for Canada or $35 for everywhere else)

Painted along a walking path in Old Town Orange, I had to pick up my easel and dash under a tree to finish this one because it started to rain on me. Luckily, it wasn’t professional rain! It just sprinkled for a few minutes then stopped.

I use water-based oil paint by Artisan, which has proven problematic on drizzly mornings. The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks with this type of paint however. I love that I don’t have to thin the paint with turpentine or any other flammable solvent.

Moving Mountains

”EARLY MORNING CLIFF” by Kim VanDerHoek.

5 X 7 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
S O L D

This scene is from the Back Bay in Newport Beach, California. While painting, there was a rumbling noise in the distance behind me. I turned just in time to see part of the cliff face sliding to the ground.

Just Peachy

”SWEET TRIO” by Kim VanDerHoek.

9X12 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.

There is nothing I love more than a beautiful peach!

I've just listed this painting on Ebay. Last year I sold a lot of work on Ebay but sales dropped off for quite a long time. I've decided to give it another try. I'll add the link if you want to check out the listing.

California Beauty

”FOOTHILL COLOR” by Kim VanDerHoek.

16 X 6 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
$95 (Shipping $20 within the U.S., $28 for Canada or $35 for everywhere else)

This size canvas was perfect for a foothill view. Painted before all the fires in California, this scene is near where the fires were burning. I hope you enjoy it!
