Sorry I haven’t been blogging as regularly as usual. I’ve been fighting a cold and my little one is sick too. Fortunately, I did get out to paint and you are viewing the results.

What I am most pleased with in this one are the mountains. After playing with a few colors I think I ended up with good highlight and shadow colors.

What captured my interest in this scene was the natural shape of the tree against all the hard lines of the overpass and walkway. While painting the overpass I struggled to keep the brushwork loose. It was so easy to make the overpass smooth and perfect but it didn’t look right with the rest of the painting.
