Colossus

”COLOSSUS” by Kim VanDerHoek.

12 X 16 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
S O L D

After many weeks indoors with tissues, I have finally been out painting! My soul has really missed being outside, looking at an amazing view and doing my best to translate it onto canvas.

This time I thought I would work larger. Painting on location (en Plein Air) has many challenges and often painters choose to paint smaller canvases because time is an issue. It takes much less time to paint a 5 X 7 versus a 12 X 16. I am pleased with how this one turned out and I hope you like it!

Be sure to enter my contest to win a FREE print of one of my paintings! Today is the last day to enter. Be sure to check out the rules in the previous post.

The Last Harvest - ACEO/ATC

”THE LAST HARVEST” by Kim VanDerHoek.

2.5 x 3.5 inch ACEO/ATC original oil painting on canvas paper mounted on acid free cardstock.

Thanks to everyone who left comments wishing me well! I am finally on the mend and am well enough to go out painting. In fact, today I painted on a large canvas (large for me anyway) and am pleased with how it turned out. As soon as it’s dry I’ll post it here so keep watching.

For today however, I’m posting another small ACEO. This is a scene in Irvine that is slated for development. While there, the clouds rolled in on the left and the sky darkened. It made for an interesting sky. Enjoy!

ACEO stands for Art Card Editions and Originals. They are cards of artwork measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the same as a standard playing card. These cards are very collectible since they don’t take up much space.

9 X 12 inch Oil Painting on canvas board.
$65 (Shipping $11 within the U.S., $20 for Canada or $28 for everywhere else)

Quiet Brook - ACEO/ATC

”QUIET BROOK” by Kim VanDerHoek.

2.5 x 3.5 inch ACEO/ATC original oil painting on canvas paper mounted on acid free cardstock.

This ACEO is based on a larger painting of mine. Since I've been sick with two colds back to back and it’s been raining, little ACEOs are all I’ve had time to paint lately. This was a fun exercise though! Enjoy!
