Oak Lane

8 X 10 inch oil painting on linen panel.
S O L D

The painting posted here is a study done in Irvine. I let loose and used both my brush and palette knife. It was fun to play with the paint and experiment a bit. I’m listing it in the “Affordable Studies” section of my site.

I’ve been visiting family for the past week and haven’t had any computer access (which is also why I haven’t been commenting on anyone’s blog).

After going through about 150 emails, I read one that contained great news. Two of my paintings have been juried into “Painting The California Landscape” show at the San Juan Capistrano Mission! Many plein air painters that I look up to will be showing their work alongside mine in this exhibit. I am absolutely floored that my work was chosen and am very excited to be part of this event.

Opening Reception
Friday, April 3rd, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The show will run April 3rd – July 14th
San Juan Capistrano Mission Barracks Gallery
31414 El Camino Real
San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

I love this painting!

Kim keep using your knife however you did it here!! The textural contrasts add a really amazing layer of dimension/airiness to this painting. That tree in front just pulls so far away from that grayer tree in back. Love this.

And a huge congratulations too! That's awesome about the show.

Also, congratulations on winning by blog giveaway. I wasn't sure if you'd find out via my blog or by the purse arriving on your doorstep. Either way, I knew you'd be surprised when you discovered it on your own, and it was fun vicariously enjoying your surprise. :)

Hi Kim, I found your blog through Rob Ijbema's. This is a great piece, as is "Spring Puddles"--I like the composition in both and the impasto work in "Oak Lane." I look forward to seeing more.

Love this landscape with the juicy impasto! It's a treat to work with both a knife and brush on the same painting!
