Tag for SmartPhones

Today I learned about these cool images called Tags. You may have seen them popping up in magazines, newspapers and even on your monthly statements (I just saw one on a medical bill). So what weird new art form is this you ask? Well, if you have a SmartPhone you can download a FREE Tag Reader application for your phone from Microsoft. After that you simply scan the black and white tag and BAM - your phone will automatically load the web page the tag directs it to.

Above is the Tag for my web site. Scan it and your phone will connect to my web site and all the content found there.

Imagine waiting in the Dr.'s office, flipping through a magazine and coming across a tag like this for something you want to learn more about. Instead of ripping out the page, taking it home and hoping you remember to look it up on your computer later that day, you'll be able to instantly access the information right where you are. THAT is seriously cool! Now, if only I had a SmartPhone.....

Of course you can always get to my web site the traditional way

Castle Rock Trail

8 X 6 inch oil painting on canvas panel.
$140 (FREE shipping in the U.S.)

This beautifully lit path is in the mountains of Big Bear on the way up to see Castle Rock. It's a short hike that ends with huge boulders you can climb on and stunning views of Big Bear Valley.

Along the way there, beside the trail, were many beautiful orange and yellow trees just waiting for me to find the best view of them to paint. As soon as I saw this scene with the trail, tree and rocks I set up my easel and began to paint.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Kwanzaa and Happy Holidays! There, that should just about cover everybody. :)

Gift Certificates Now Available

The art someone chooses to hang in their home is a very personal decision and can make the idea of giving a painting as a gift a bit daunting. Several of my collectors mentioned that they had a friend that loves my artwork but that they didn’t know which painting to choose as a gift. So, for the holidays I’ve created gift certificates.

Also, adding gift certificates to your wish list and then sharing your list with family and friends might help to put that special painting that is out of your budget within reach.

Gift certificates are available in amounts from $25 - $500, they can be used for anything on my web site and are good for one year from the date of issue.

Urban Sunset

8 X 6 inch oil painting on linen panel.
$200 (FREE shipping in the U.S.)

My neighbors across the street need a new roof. Half of the roof is shingled in black and the other half is shingled in light gray. Attached to part of the roof is a patio cover that isn't painted and there are all kinds of things hanging off the patio cover (I can't quite make out what they are - maybe bird feeders). Why am I telling you all this? Because I am absolutely obsessed with the view above their rooftop. After it rains here in Southern California we are usually left with beautiful cloud formations. If you live in a place where clouds are a daily event you might think I'm crazy but it is a rare thing to see here. When the sun sets behind my neighbor's house and on those rare evenings after a storm, the sky puts on a dazzling display. Above is a painting inspired by that view.
