Powerful Sunset

6 x 6 Oil on canvas panel
S O L D

My first "Higbee" painting for April 16th. What is a Higbee, you ask?

A few months ago the Randy Higbee Gallery hosted a 6" Squared art show in nearby Costa Mesa. All the artwork in the show was sized 6"x 6". Jean Stern, the Executive Director, of the Irvine Museum was the juror and painter Jeff Horn was the judge awarding prizes. I was fortunate enough to have two paintings in the show. When I went to the opening reception, I was absolutely blown away by the quality of work that was there.

If you missed the show last time you'll get a second chance to see some of the most amazing and affordable art created by many of the country's best painters. This is a show that you must not miss if you are in the area. Below are the details.

Opening Reception: April 16th

Dates: April 16th - May 6th

If you want to see the show online and you are on FaceBook, be sure to send Randy Higbee a friend request. You'll get up to the minute news about the show, be able to purchase the art you see and watch live as the winners are announced after the opening reception.

Fajitas in My Future - A Study

6 X 6 inch oil painting on panel.
S O L D

Here is another study for the Daily Paintworks Challenge. This time Carol Marine asked us to mix a new color for each brush stroke. Honestly, about a quarter of the way into this one I hated how it was turning out but then, near the finish, I changed my mind as it actually began to look like a bell pepper had magically appeared on my panel. This is an exercise I plan on repeating because I think it forced me to be more creative in my color choices.
